In part II of 'What's wrong with the world' Chesterton discusses 'the mistake about man' (it will be followed by 'the mistake about woman' and 'the mistake about the child'). I had some trouble understanding the arguments as outlined in these four short sections. One of the difficulties lies in the lack of a good word to label the mistake with (Chesterton uses 'imperialism' for lack of a better word).
The problem, or 'the peculiar peril', of our time, according to Chesterton, is 'the complete eclipse of comradeship and equality by specialism and domination'. We should be careful of the 'huge modern heresy of altering the human soul to fit its conditions, instead of altering human conditions to fit the human soul'.
